“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
How many times do you keep going over the events of the day, particularly if they are annoyances, frustrations, and mistakes? While it’s good to evaluate the day and note areas of improvement, but it isn’t helpful to keep stewing and revisiting and wallowing in all the slights, irritations, and things that didn’t go right.
Leave what happened today in today, meaning don’t drag it with you into the night and then into the next day. At the time you did the best you could. That’s good enough. Let it go and move on.
Your homework today is to let go of all the petty grievances of the day. Leave them in this day. Know that tomorrow is fresh and new and you can start it with a clean slate if you leave today’s events in today.
You can do it!
I’m proud of you!
