“Our belief is that anything the mind can think, it can unthink.”
This quote reminds us that our thoughts are under our control—all of our thoughts. No matter what our thought is and no matter how firmly entrenched, the thought can be changed—we can unthink it.
This may not be easy with some thoughts because they are so ingrained in our mind. And it might require some sleuthing to identify the thoughts that are so subtle that we don’t even know we’re thinking them. But every moment we spend unthinking thoughts that are unhelpful to us will be time well used.
Your homework today is to begin identifying the unhelpful thoughts that are roaming around in your mind. Choose one of those thoughts—you’ll be far more successful if you tackle one thought at a time—and become very mindful of it. Come up with positive and empowering statements you can choose to think instead of that one.
Train yourself to notice when you are thinking that unhelpful thought and immediately think the new thought instead. Don’t be surprised or discouraged if you find this hard to do and if you don’t see results right away. Stick with it. Keep at it and soon you’ll notice a difference.
You can do it!
I’m so proud of you!
