Bargained with Life

My Wage

I bargained with Life for a penny,

And Life would pay no more,

However I begged at evening,

When I counted my scanty store.

For Life is a just employer,

He gives you what you ask,

But once you have set the wages,

Why, you must bear the task.

I worked for a menial’s hire,

Only to learn, dismayed,

That any wage I had asked of Life,

Life would have willingly paid.

Your homework today is to note the areas of your life where you are settling—doing, having, being less than what you know you’re capable of. Take the time to sit down and figure out why you’re reconciling yourself to less than what you could have. Brainstorm ideas and actions you can implement to help yourself. And, of course, follow through and make the steps!

You can do it!

I’m so proud of you!

Your Friend and Pep Pal,
