You’ve come a long way, Baby! ~Virginia Slims advertisement
We’re so focused on trying to do everything at once and to a high standard, yet we suspect that we aren’t measuring up. But yet we can’t seem to find a reliable measuring stick. So, we keep trying to do everything and do it to the best of our abilities…but still, we wonder if we’re doing it right.
The only foolproof way to stop this vicious cycle is to periodically stop and honestly evaluate how far you’ve come and then to acknowledge your accomplishments.
Your homework today is to stop and celebrate yourself. You’ve done the best you could this week and you must acknowledge that. Applaud the little bits—and big leaps—of progress that you’ve made this week.
Plan and follow through on a treat for yourself for a job well done. You don’t have to spend a lot of money or do anything elaborate. It could be something as simple as going on a picnic with your family or spending the afternoon reading a good book.
You may find that the taskmaster in your mind may remind you that you didn’t do such-and-such or that the other thing you did could have been better.
Today is the day for celebrating you and what you did do well and the progress you’ve made.
Celebrate you because you’re awesome!
You can do it!
I’m so proud of you!
Your Friend and Pep Pal,
