Ya Do Whatcha Gotta Do – Part 3: It Pays Off

When you do what you have to do and when you’re open to the options Life presents to you, it pays off. It may not seem like it will at the time.  It may seem like it’s a lot of hard work with more hard work following on its heels.  And, it may seem like each lead you check out ends in a brick wall or a huge pothole.

But if you stick with it, it will pay off.

My sculptor friend is proof of this. Even though he isn’t making a living from his art right now, he is winning grant money and is securing commissions for his pieces.  In fact, just last year a medium sized city nearby commissioned two of his works–one to sit outside the public library and the other to be outside City Hall!

The long hours working at a variety of jobs so that my friend can pay his expenses as well as financially support his journey to his dream of making a living from his art; all of his Gallery Crawls, all of the art dealers and artists he’s met, and all of the art patron’s he’s talked to have all, in one way or another, helped him move forward toward his dreams.

Even though not every person likes his art and not every person could or would help him, even though not every job was interesting or fun or even related to his work, there are enough people who do like his art, enough people who are willing to reach out a helping hand to him, and enough of the jobs are good enough that he could stick with them to earn the money he needed that he is moving forward.

It is paying off!

Your homework today is to keep on keeping on. Keep working to fund your dreams; keep saying “Yes!” to opportunities; keep meeting people and talking to them.

Take it one step at a time. Break the step into small, manageable chunks.  Break those down into little tidbits that are just right for you, then do them!  I know it’ll pay off for you!

You can do it!

I’m so proud of you!

Your Friend and Pep Pal,
