Welcome to December, the last month of 2015!

Often, when people flip the calendar to December, they wonder where all the time went—how did the year go so fast?  They may say to their family, friends, and co-workers things like:  It should still be summer, right?

Another common practice people do when December arrives to review the year.  They think of all the high hopes that had in January and that none of them—or not many, at any rate—came true.  They think about all the things they didn’t do and the projects that didn’t pan out.   They totally gloss over—or just playing old don’t notice—the achievements and progress that they did make this year.

It’s in this frame of mind—a disheartened, frazzled state of mind—that people then sit down to think about and set their goals for the upcoming year.

No wonder no one likes New Year resolutions, planning, and goal-setting!

We’re going to do something different this year.  We’re going to celebrate ourselves all month long and then—only after we’re feeling good about ourselves—we’ll do our resolutions, plans, and goal setting.

Sounds good to me!

Let’s give it a shot—there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Your homework today is to applaud yourself for the small bits of progress that you’ve made—be sure to include the big steps, too!  Don’t worry about how small or humble the progress was.  It’s all good because it all adds up!

Pat yourself on the back for who you are– for what makes you unique.  Remember to give yourself a few pats for your willingness to go for your dreams, the talents you’re discovering and developing, the ways you’re walking the talk.

Make time each day—preferably the first few minutes upon waking in the morning and the last few minutes before dropping off to sleep at night—to celebrate yourself.

Do this every day!

Also, keep today’s quote handy and refer to it often, especially when those tapes start in your mind, the ones that tell you that you have nothing to be proud of or to celebrate.

Not true!

Here’s today’s quote again:  Life doesn’t have to be perfect in order to be wonderful. ~Unknown.

Celebrate the wonderful, imperfect you that you are!

You can do it,  I’m positive that you can!

I’m so proud of you!

Your Friend and Pep Pal,

Lauren
