As you look over this week and prepare for the next one, note the places where you felt unsure or anxious–when you felt resistance and the urge to procrastinate. This is when encouragement would come in handy!
I have some quotes that I think will help but before I share them, take another moment to look for patterns in what causes you to feel unsure or anxious. What tasks, what times of day, what people, what places, etc., cause you to respond with resistance and procrastination?
You can prepare yourself for these times by having handy quotes, images, music, poems, and other resources that uplift you. When you feel the first tinglings of emotions that throw you off track, immediately pull out the things that encourage you!
Here are some quotes you can add to your resources list (you can get more quotes by following me on twitter: @YesICanPepTalks):
When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn. ~ Harriet Beecher Stowe
A bend in the road is not the end of the road… unless you fail to make the turn. ~ Unknown
Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure. ~ Oprah Winfrey
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
Listen to your being. It is continuously giving you hints; it is a still, small voice. It does not shout at you, that is true. And if you are a little silent you will start feeling your way. Be the person you are. Never try to be another, and you will become mature. Maturity is accepting the responsibility of being oneself, whatsoever the cost. Risking all to be oneself, that’s what maturity is all about. ― Osho
The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why. –Mark Twain

I like Emerson’s reminder to finish each day and be done with it. I’m learning to accept each day’s blunders and absurdities and not drag them into each fresh new day.

Thank you for your comment, Julie!
I love that quote, too. It’s a relief and a comfort. To me, it’s like Emerson is reaching across time, patting us on the hand, and giving us permission to let everything go. In doing this, we can get a good night’s sleep so that we truly can begin the next day refreshed and renewed.
