Sometimes our friends and families find themselves in a really difficult circumstances. Sometimes we feel awful not only because we feel bad seeing them suffer but because we know there is nothing we can do. We have the horrible realization that they have a path to walk and we have to stand on the sidelines and let them do it.
At times like this, we feel inadequate and even embarrassed that there’s nothing we can do. But we always have something we can give–that we can do.
We can:
~Offer a hand to hold.
~Let them know that we’re with them
~Listen as they talk through their fears and worries
~Encourage them as they figure things out for themselves and come up with ideas
~Keep a positive and hopeful attitude for them
~Keep telling them that they have what it takes: they have intelligence, gifts, and talents;
~Let them know often that you believe in them, especially when they don’t believe in themselves.
You can do this!
