…as God is my witness they’re not going to lick me. I’m going to live through this and when it’s all over, I’ll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I’ll never be hungry again!
~Scarlet O”Hara in Gone with the Wind
Stop worrying and fretting about the fact that you may have absolutely no clue about the future you’re headed toward. Worrying and trying to force a vision may be the reason you’ve been stuck for years.
When you read the quote above from Scarlet O’Hara, you can feel her rock-solid conviction. You would probably bet your last dollar on her and the fact that she made more than good on this oath she swore.
It’s just as powerful to know where you don’t want to go and what you don’t want to have/be/do as it is to know where you do want to go and what you do want to have/be/do.
In fact, dissatisfaction with the way things are is the basis of most great achievements. Those who are dissatisfied don’t necessarily know what they do want but they definitely and absolutely know what they don’t want!
What is it about your life that you really don’t like and don’t want anymore? Perhaps it’s that you’re finally done with being passed over for promotions at work or you’re fed up with your home always being messy and disheveled. Or maybe you’re like Scarlet O’Hara and you’re sooooo done with Life kicking you around.
Up to now, you may have forced yourself to accept the fact that this is the way it will always be.
But you can use to your advantage the energy of drawing the line and saying once and for all that this most definitely is NOT what you want and you’ll NOT have any more of it!!
Tap into this energy and use it to firm up and strengthen your resolve that, from now on, you refuse to live your life this way.
This is the first part of crafting a soul-prospering life. The second part is including activities you enjoy: playing.
Don’t worry if the things you enjoy seem silly or frivolous or that there isn’t any point to them. Just the mere fact that you enjoy them is reason enough to do them. You don’t need to have any idea where they’ll lead so forget-about-it and enjoy the activities in the moment.
Keep at it! Keep playing! You’ll begin to see a pattern or a thread of interest that gets your juices flowing; you’ll have a more positive open-minded attitude that will allow you to see opportunities that you didn’t notice before; you’ll feel better about yourself and your life and this will enhance your creativity.
As you keep at this, moving away from what you don’t enjoy and moving toward what you do enjoy, you WILL craft a soul-prospering life!
You CAN do it, I know you can!
