The thing to do, it seems to me, is to prepare yourself so you can be a rainbow in somebody else’s cloud. Somebody who may not look like you. May not call God the same name you call God – if they call God at all. I may not dance your dances or speak your language. But be a blessing to somebody. That’s what I think. ~Maya Angelou

Don’t ever criticize yourself. Don’t go around all day long thinking, ‘I’m unattractive, I’m slow, I’m not as smart as my brother.’ God wasn’t having a bad day when he made you… ~Joel Osteen

Darkness comes. In the middle of it, the future looks blank. The temptation to quit is huge. Don’t. You are in good company… You will argue with yourself that there is no way forward. But with God, nothing is impossible. He has more ropes and ladders and tunnels out of pits than you can conceive. Wait. Pray without ceasing. Hope. ~John Piper

Pep Rally! 16 Positive Statements

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:US_Army_52377_Akbar_sets_women%27s_Ten-Miler_record.jpg

We need to retrain our minds to think positive and, when we find ourselves with thoughts that depress us, make us fearful, or frustrate us to no end, we need to quickly snap our minds back to the positive.

Here are 16 short statements to keep handy to use frequently–every single moment of the day, when we’re faced with a particularly tough spot:

Yes I can!

NO!  Not today!

This isn’t going to push me down, it’s going to push me ahead!

I’m pressing through to my breakthrough

I have what it takes.

I am fully equipped–I have what it takes to succeed.

This will be my greatest victory yet.

My best days are still ahead of me.

I am smart, I am strong, I can figure this out.

I CHOOSE to be happy today.

I CHOOSE to find the beauty around me today.

I CHOOSE to move forward.

There’s a winner inside me and I am letting her/him out!

The rest of my life is the very best part of my life.

I am talented, I am creative, I am resourceful, I am inventive.

I am born to win, I am born with greatness, I am a champion.

A bonus: A question to ask yourself throughout the day:

What can I do right now that will move me toward my soul-prospering life?  Then roll up your sleeves, dive in, and get busy doing that thing or those things!
You can do it!

Something good–helpful–will happen; it always does.
Oftentimes we want the solution to our problems RIGHT NOW!!   It doesn’t always happen this way.  Usually, we have to be inventive, do our homework, and search for additional help and support–with some hand-wringing and nail biting thrown in–before we figure it out.
Remember, too, that it isn’t unusual that resources come our way just in the nick of time.   The good news is that “just in the nick of time” is all we need!
In the meantime, help the “something good” come to you by:
~Staying positive – keep telling yourself “I can do this.”  “All is well”  “Everything is working out for my best.”  “I am capable, I am competent, I am strong.  I am smart.”
~Staying productive, not just busy.  Finish task, work on projects that will take you farther down your path, that will help you get ahead.

~Staying alert to opportunities and remembering that they often come to you disguised as hard work.  Eagerly roll up your sleeves and get to work because this hard work will probably thrust you into your breakthrough!

Here are pep statements to say over and over and over to yourself:
This setback is actually a set-up for something fantastic for me!
I have what it takes!
I’m smart, I’m strong, I’m creative, I’m tough, I’m inventive, I’m resilient!
My breakthrough is just around the corner.
I can do this and I AM doing this!
All is well.
I believe in you!

Pep Rally! No, NOT Today!!!!!!!!!

You may be in the fight of your life right now–one that’s taking every ounce of your strength and every drop of your ingenuity to stay alive.

When I’ve been in situations like this, what I found to be most discouraging were the naysayers and the Negative Nellies and Dismal Daves telling me I was going down this time. I had moments when things really did look dismal and I was close, so very very close, to agreeing with the gloomy doom-eys and I was just about ready to throw in the towel.

During one of these tough patches, I remember being in the car and searching for peppy songs on the radio–something to lift my spirits. Randomly, I stopped on a station in the middle of a song and I heard the lyrics “…No! Not today!…” That stuck with me and it was just the boost I needed to help me dig my heels in one more time.

That statement empowered me and I felt the strength stirring again. Repeating the statement frequently, sometimes every moment, helped keep me going.

Your situation may look bleak and the overall odds may not be in your favor at this time, and maybe when it’s all said and done this situation will eventually get the best of you. But for right now, tell yourself: NO! NOT TODAY!!!

NO! NOT TODAY!!!!

Whenever you’re feeling that you have no options, or that giving up is your only option, I encourage you to say to yourself   No! NOT today!

Say it as often as you need to each moment of each day and let its power push you through the “impossible” parts.

You can do it; I believe in you!

Pep Rally! You CAN Figure it Out!

Copyright Yes I Can Pep Talks

You can do it; you CAN figure it out!
No matter what Life throws at you and no matter what obstacles are in your path, you have the intelligence, creativity, and inventiveness to figure it out.  It may not be easy, but you can do it; you have what it takes.

Setbacks can be very disheartening but you’ll also find that they may point you in another, better, direction. They’ll also challenge you to find the sleeping giant within. Brush off your skills of resourcefulness and ingenuity and use them to help yourself figure “it” out.

Remember that you don’t have to go the whole way alone. You can do research on the Internet and in your local library; you can talk to others who have experienced something similar to what you’re going through; you can bounce ideas off a trusted friend or loved one; you can take classes online or at a school; you can read books or magazines…. There are plenty of resources out there that’ll support you in figuring it out.

Trust in yourself–your know-how, your curiosity, the gifts inside of you, and your determination–and you WILL figure it out!

In other words, you WILL figure it out by::

~Putting on your thinking cap;

~Roll up your sleeves;

~Every moment strengthening your spirit and your resolve with pep statements;

~Pressing onward no matter what!

You CAN do it, you WILL do it, and you ARE doing it!

I’m proud of you!

Pep Talks! You Have What it Takes!

You have what it takes!

You are fully loaded with all the raw materials–the talents, abilities, gifts, native intelligence–you’ll need to achieve the soul-prospering life you dream of.

Like all of us, there are some things you’re naturally good at. You may not need to practice that much in order to have above average skills and performance. But, like all of us, there are other things you aren’t very good at. Although you’re interested in the activity, you have to work at it. That’s okay! Roll up your sleeves and develop your skills and abilities in the area of this particular interest.

Just because you aren’t immediately and naturally good at a task or activity does not mean you don’t have a talent or ability in this area. If you have an interest, then there is a skill or talent inside you that corresponds to this interest.

Sure, others may be naturally talented and “better than” you, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t or aren’t allowed to pursue your interest to the fullest that you can. Think of Michael Jordan and Larry Byrd, both Hall of Fame basketball players. It’s clear that Michael Jordan is more naturally talented than Larry Byrd but because of Larry’s unrelenting dedication and his incredible practice ethic, he, too, was a top player in the NBA–right alongside Michael Jordan–and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Whether or not you become the equivalent of a Hall of Famer as have Larry Byrd and Michael Jordan, you can still develop your latent abilities and talents as much as you can and all the while enjoy them to the fullest extent.

It’s all about the enjoyment you give yourself, your loved ones, and others around you. It isn’t about being famous, it’s about enjoying who you are and sharing that with others.

You CAN do this because you DO have what it takes!

Your Friend and Pep Pal,

Lauren
