An unexpected project was dumped in my lap this afternoon. It has a short turn around time, which means I will be working on it all weekend. My weekend is already full with work projects that need to be done so I can stay ahead of the curve. These have to take a back seat to the unexpected project.
On top of this, the unexpected project wound up on my lap because a colleague did not follow through on his responsibilities. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper.
But the projects must be completed.
By Monday.
Along with the ordeal of re-ordering my plan, I had to let go of my crankiness over all of this.
Not easy to do.
What really helped me is to know that if I grind it out this weekend, then I’m done with everything—the unexpected project as well as staying ahead of the curve for work. I’ll be able to move on. This is just another way of telling myself that Something Better is Up Ahead.
Have you ever had a situation where you had to buckle down and just grind it out? If so, what thought helped you get through it? Please share in the comments. Thank you!
