Things CAN Change for You




Things CAN change for you and they WILL as long as you take steps to help yourself.  

Meeting with others for brainstorming and collaborating is great. Taking classes, going to workshops and lectures is also great. Thinking positive, saying power phrases and pep words to yourself through out the day is great, too. But what super-charges all of this is actually applying, following through with, all the ideas, knowledge, and help that comes your way.

You have to do the work.

You have to take the steps.

You have to do those things that you think, guess, hope, and know will help you.

You gotta take action!


Your homework today is to take a look at the areas of your life that aren’t changing for you. Take a close look and be honest with yourself.

What are you not following through on? Break it into teensy tiny bits of steps then do those bits!

What actions do you hope will help you but you aren’t doing anything about it? Break them into tiny jots and specks then do them!

Are you waiting for someone else to do the work–are you waiting to be rescued? Find the little parts that you can do yourself.   Be sure to break them into itsy bitsy dabs and smidgens, then do them!

You CAN be your own rescuer just by taking action!

You can do it, I know you can!

Rev Up Your Enthusiasm

Many times, as we’re working toward our goals and dreams, we can get bogged down in the day-to-day particulars of what needs to be done.   Quite often these tasks are time consuming, not glamorous, and not a lot of fun. But they need to be completed because they’re part of the steps we need to take to move us toward our dreams.

We find that we have to force ourselves to muscle our way through procrastination, foot-dragging, and inertia.

There’s gotta be a better way!

Good news: There is!


When you’re mired in the minutia, remind yourself of your dream. It’s the whole reason why you’re doing this!  Reconnect with the excitement and enthusiasm that naturally grows out of your dream.

Your homework today—whether you are bogged down or not—is to take time to think about your dream so you can reconnect with the enthusiasm and excitement it generates in you.

Find a quiet place where you can be undisturbed for 15 – 20 minutes. Then think about and experience your dream.

This is more than an intellectual exercise; make this a sensory experience. For instance:

~How will you feel when you achieve your dream—or even when you are farther down the road and closer to achieving it? Will you feel relief? Freedom? Joy?

~What will you do?  Will you payoff your credit cards and other debts you’re carrying? Will you help a loved one? Will you give back to the people who have helped you? Will you pay it forward and reach out a helping hand?

~What treat will you give to yourself? Will you do an item on your Bucket List? Will you purchase a snazzy car or some other big-ticket item? Or will you renovate your home, perhaps turning the spare bedroom into that personal library/study that you’ve always dreamed of?

Sometimes, though, your dreams are so far off and you’re so tired from working that thinking about what it’ll be like when you’ve reached your dreams does not really help. Sometimes it can feel unbelievable and add another layer to the exhaustion you may be feeling.


In that case, your homework is to still take the time to sit quietly but instead of thinking about the end result of your dreams, think about a few steps down the road. Think about and experience what it will feel like to be through the muck that has temporarily ensnared you. Think about how good it’ll feel to have made it through to the next step.

~Will you feel relief to be finally done, once and for all, with this current step?

~Will the pressures ease up when you make it to the next step?

~Are you excited to see what Good Stuff awaits you farther down the path?

~Once you get past this, will you treat yourself to a rest such as spending an afternoon—or even a whole day!—with your favorite hobby or pastime?

When you feel the enthusiasm, even if it’s just a little glimmer, focus on it. Let it infuse your body, mind, and spirit. Feel where in your body that it’s strongest. Really feel it. Give this your undivided attention so that you can help the enthusiasm grow and strengthen—just like you would do for a delicate flower.

You can do this, I know you can!
